Course Information

Starting from just outside Dymchurch town centre ( Google Map ) on the sea wall the route takes a short out and back West as far as a big Martello Tower in a car park and running straight eastwards you'll continue past the start, past a huge rock commemorating the building of the sea wall in 2008, another Martello Tower and carry on till the path runs out in front of the old coastal defence fort. You can't go any further, the path simply stops! Touch the wall, return to the base camp. At all times stay on the upper sea wall, not the lower one.

Rachel models the end of sea wall turnaround, you really cannot miss it!
(Incidentally behind that barbed wire is a live firing range, you really, really, really don't want to be exploring there!)

The route is all on wide sea wall, the only hazards being the occasional dog walker, cyclist and seagull. The route is right by the sea and it's virtually impossible to go astray, the path is always between the beach and either roads, town, fields or buildings. At the coastal fort end the path simply runs out and at the Dymchurch end is a Martello Tower (we'll have this marshalled the first lap) As an added incentive not to go wrong past the coastal defence fort is a live firing range! Mind you to get on that you'd have to climb a fence, scramble along beach and rocks and then climb over another fence!

There are no left or rights, nothing! Just a gentle curve around the bay.
