White Hill Road, Challock , Kent, TN25 4AP
King's Wood can be found on White Hill Road which is situated off the main Ashford to Canterbury Road, not very originally named the Ashford Road (A28). It's about six miles from Ashford, twelve miles from Canterbury
There is only the one car park here, pictured below, which has an official capacity of 80 cars, and probably a few more can be squeezed in around the edges if needs be. So basically lots of space for an SVN event.
There is lots of parking available. Parking is free. Under pain of death don't park on the road. it's pretty narrow and will get us in trouble. If you have a high vehicle/camper van (though we'll try to get the height barrier open) then there is a small second car park (Map) about 600m to the East that doesn't have a height barrier, so park up there and wander along.
Trees. Err, it's a big old wood, which is nice, but there is nothing here. We'll bring in a couple of portable toilets near base camp for events here.
The nearest train station is Ashford and that's 6 miles away. Well, that's the biggest station by a factor of about ten. Wye is physically closer (2.5 miles) but you'd likely have to change at Ashford anyway.
Premier Inn -
Ashford (Eureka Leisure Park) (5.2 miles away), Ashford North (6 miles),
Ashford Central (8.1 miles), Canterbury City Centre (11 miles) (Incidentally if you fancy being a bit of a tourist to the area, Canterbury is a far more interesting place to have a wander around with the Cathedtral, shopping and historic buildings. It has a McDonalds and a Burger King, the only redeeming thing about Ashford is it has a McDonalds, the closest Premier Inn on the Eureka Leisure Park has a few restaurants and cinema etc and is fine as a functional base but it's by the freeway and not terribly exciting. I don't work for the Ashford Tourist Board, but having lived there once feel qualified to judge!)
