A high quality trail run on the Kent Coast

Between Thanet and Sandwich lays a big bay called Pegwell Bay which is famous for two reasons, firstly because of the nationally important Sandwich and Pegwell Bay National Nature Reserve and secondly for the Viking Ship, The Hugin, that rests there in all its recently restored glory. We've been fortunate enough to have been given permission to hold an event on part of this area known as the Pegwell Bay Country Park.

The Hugin holds a special fondness for myself as it was one of the favourite places that my late father would take me to as a child, in the dim and distant past you could climb on the ship, eat your ice cream and be a Viking! Sadly these days clamboring over such things isn't allowed, but it has been nicely restored in the last decade or so and is well worth a look, a good few times in fact as the route will go past it twice on each lap! The event will have a six hour time limit for you to run as many, or as few laps as you wish. With a timed event, as long as you complete one lap, then you are an official finisher!

We do these things not because they are easy but because they are hard. The route is fairly flat, certainly around the Country Park part, but there is a bit of a slope up to The Hugin, but then there is a lovely downhill slope on the way back. The trail is very high quality crushed limestone, tarmac bike paths and a very short stretch on a disused road and about 100 yards on single track path and grass.

As usual we'll have a well stocked aid station which you'll pass just over every three miles, a unique custom made medal and a goody bag that actually contains goodies which will make the days work more than worth it.

Having completed lots of marathons and ultras we believe we know what it takes to put on an enjoyable marathon for the fit, the dedicated and the hardcore long distance runners. And for those, like ourselves, who fit none of those categories, we'll do our best to get you round! We put on marathons run exactly the way we wish they were all run - low key, friendly and with most of the entry fee being spent on the runners.

It's our aim that this event makes an impactful difference to the Pegwell Bay Country Park in a positive fashion and as such £5 from each entry fee will be donated directly to the Park to aid them in maintaining this lovely environment.

This event forms part of a 10 Challenges in 10 Days Challenge, each event though is totally separate and you are free to just take part in one event, two events or however many you wish!
