Frequently Asked Questions

What do I get?
You will receive
1) A really special finishers medal, custom made and designed, not a generic one.
2) A goody bag at the finish, which has goodies in, not a bunch of adverts. There will be nothing healthy in our goody bags, things they contain for example, chocolate, crisps, cider.
3) A well stocked base camp with plenty of nibbles and refreshments for during and post race replenishment, including the legendary Rachel's Rocky Road!

Where do I park?
There is plenty of parking at Fowlmead. It's currently £3 a day which you pay when you leave (they have a new system in case you've been here before) - They use ANPR system and can even be paid the next day in case you forget.

When do I get my race number?
You'll pick this up on race day morning from the race base camp. This will be at the race start/finish area (Google Map) or in the cafe depending on the weather!

Are there time limits?
Yes.

Fowlmead 50 - Strict 12 hours. As is traditional with ultras time limits are hard. You must be finished 12 hours after the start.

Fowlmead 12 hour challenge - You must have finished your final lap within the 12 hour time limit, there is no credit for partial laps.

With either event you may stop at any time, if you are entered in to the Fowlmead 50 and wish to stop, or are timed out then you'll automatically be placed in the Fowlmead 12 hour challenge, receive a Fowlmead Challenge medal and goody bag.

Any runner completing 14 laps will have completed an ultra by 100 Marathon Club standards. As long as you finish one lap then you'll receive an official finish time, medal and goody bag. As long as you complete one lap there are no DNFs.

Betteshanger Marathon - This event will start at 0900 and will finish at the hard cutoff of 2000, so effectively an 11 hour time limit.

Do you have secure baggage facilities
No. But you're free to leave bags at the start/finish. There will always be someone around but we can't guarantee their security, in the event of rain we can't guarantee things won't get wet. You'll be able to park close to the start/finish don't forget.

Can I leave my own drinks/food at the aid station?
Yes no problem at all, we have a dedicated table for runners own supplies if they have anything special that they'd like to bring along..

Trail shoes? Road Shoes?
It's an all tarmac course so road shoes.

Is the course closed to the public?
Yes. Although the park is open to the public still so there may be random people wandering about or cyclists using the nature paths or mountain bike trails we're hiring the cycle track for our exclusive use

What on course facilities do you provide?
Water, squash, nibbles, goodies, starter, timekeeper and encouragement every lap! Base station will be well stocked for all runners. This is a typical example of the picnics, sorry aid station, we have... as this is an ultra we will have some more ultra centric offerings, but still a fair supply of the regular goodies!

Can I leave personal drinks at the drinks station?
Yes, you may want to label it and we will not be responsible for folks drinking the wrong drinks! We'll have a separate table for runners supplies.

Are there any facilities at the start/finish area?
There are toilets, a cafe and a kids playground.
